Katya Houtheusen is a photographic artist based between London and Brighton. A graduate of BA photography at the London College of Communication, her practice interweaves narrative and documentary methodologies as a means of understanding a subject through an unrestricted approach. More recently, her work has started exploring themes closer to her own life, re-examining her relationship with the everyday.
Over the Downs
Over the Downs is an ongoing project made from horseback across the landscape that shaped my childhood. All shot on a 35mm point-and-shoot camera, I return to the same two routes week after week.
Witnessing the subtle seasonal shifts, this work explores the idea of journeying through the familiar, inviting the viewer to slow down and embrace a patient reflection on place, memory, and the passing of time.
