The Photo School (TPS) is an independent not-for-profit photography school, supporting the development of early-career and emerging artists working with photography.

Through online and hybrid courses, we support artists in developing their photographic voice, approach, and portfolio; building a sustainable long-term practice; developing the skills, mindset, and resilience needed to succeed in the arts; and connecting with a community of fellow artists and practitioners.

Our dynamic artist development programmes are designed specifically for early-career photographic artists, offering an alternative to traditional art education. Delivered by leading practitioners, educators, and industry professionals, our mentorship and tuition are grounded in real-world experience and contemporary practice.

We recognise the wide-ranging barriers individuals experience — practically, professionally, financially, structurally, emotionally, and psychologically — and aim to provide a supportive environment that encourages open and honest dialogue, knowledge exchange, and shared learning, helping artists move forward with confidence and perspective.
