The Photo School (TPS) is an independent not-for-profit photography school, supporting the development of early-career and emerging artists working with photography.

Through online and hybrid courses, we support artists in developing their photographic voice, approach, and portfolio; building a sustainable long-term practice; developing the skills, mindset, and resilience needed to succeed in the arts; and connecting with a community of fellow artists and practitioners.

Our dynamic artist development programmes are designed for early-career and emerging photographic artists, offering an alternative to mainstream art education. Our programmes are delivered by leading photographers, educators, and industry professionals, ensuring tuition is relevant and shaped by real-world practice and experience. 

We nurture and showcase contemporary photographic artists, offering a space for experimentation, critical dialogue, and growth. We recognise the wide-ranging barriers individuals experience — practically, professionally, financially, structurally, emotionally, and psychologically — and aim to provide a supportive environment for pastoral guidance, open discussion, and knowledge exchange, helping artists move forward with confidence and perspective.
