I love my granddaughter, she is a photographer
When everything changes within an instant, and life begins to slip through your fingers, I love my granddaughter, she is a photographer is an accidental exploration of grief. Processed through the one remaining point of control, making, the work was born from a compulsion to make sense of the unfathomable.
Attempting to grapple with life's unraveling seams, an ensemble of text, image and ephemera interweaves the experience of visiting a loved one on a hospital ward, where an unexpected sense of community emerges within a world where no one wants to be.
Through the transition from fear to acceptance, unforeseen relationships emerge, formed through shared experiences of tragedy. The hospital, over time, becoming more welcoming than home.
Presented as a constellation of temporality, amalgamating fragments splayed across a non-linear display that guides the viewer through the vicious realities of a stroke.
